Lack of Sufficient Sleep (LOSS) is a root cause of illness and suffering.

Sufficient sleep is essential to the body's and mind's repair, growth, and development.

Sufficient sleep is critical to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

We advocate recognizing insufficient sleep as a significant public and personal health crisis.

Throughout his career as a primary care physician, Dr. Washington observed the consistent link between lack of sufficient sleep, which he coined as LOSS, and sickness and how LOSS frequently sparks illness and depression.

More alarmingly, Dr. Washington found that LOSS not only weakened the immune system of his patients but also triggered metabolic issues, such as asthma, eczema, psoriasis, and inflammatory events, such as gout, stones, headaches, blood clots, heart attacks, strokes

We advocate making Sleep Wellness fundamental to all wellness practices.

Eight Domains of Wellness

Sleep to Live Well Foundation is working to make Sleep Wellness the essential condition, the sine qua non, of wellness in the ACEs Aware Initiative.

The Center for Youth Wellness, a pioneering organization for the Adverse Childhood Experiences movement, ACEs Aware, advocates the Seven Domains of Wellness as a promising approach to healing children of toxic stress and trauma.

Sleep To Live Well has introduced Sleep Wellness as the '8th Domain' to emphasize its importance in every wellness routine and to remind healthcare practitioners how Sleep Wellness makes all the Domains for healing ACEs more effective.

We advocate using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to restore Sleep Wellness naturally.

The Natural Path to Sleep Wellness

Sleep To Live Well advocates for CBT to help people break counterproductive habits and change their relationship with sleep. CBT has been proven successful in treating a wide range of psychological problems, including insomnia, because it helps people recognize and release unhealthy behavioral patterns to improve outcomes and self-confidence when dealing with challenges.

By identifying self-sabotaging patterns and reprogramming a natural relationship with sleep, the practical materials and tools created by Sleep To Live Well are designed to shift attitudes and bedtime habits by instilling an appreciation for the life-sustaining and health-inducing role of sufficient sleep.

Our highest priority is influencing children, hopefully, before their negative feelings toward bedtime and sleep become ingrained.

We advocate that physicians and healthcare practitioners emphasize Sleep Wellness when treating and caring for ill patients.

SuperPowers of Sleep Wellness

Sleep To Live Well encourages healthcare professionals to view Sleep Wellness as a SuperPower. By implementing Sleep Wellness screening and treatment practices, doctors can assist families and children under their care to:

  • Repair, restore, heal, and maintain wellness.

  • Build resilience, stability, and connection with passion and spirit.

  • Experience optimism, clarity, and the euphoria of mental and emotional happiness, carefreeness, and confidence.

  • Maintain and improve health, from infancy to elderly age.
